Month Five

Month five was another fun and eventful one. Lydia started out the month at 15 lbs 9 oz and 25.5" long. She also developed eczema...trying to be just like her mommy. We got the go ahead from the doctor, so we started on solid foods. First food - sweet potatoes, and boy did she love those. She caught right on to how that worked and soon started grabbing for the spoon and feeding herself. It didn't stop there. She moved on to sweet peas, carrots, and green beans.

Grandma Carroll came back out to help Lydia celebrate her first fourth of July. She woke up just in time to catch the fireworks which she stared at in awe. She got to meet her Auntie Catherine and Auntie Meegan for the first time the next day. This spurred Lydia's first sleep boycott and she denied naps for the rest of the weekend. On Sunday, July 6th, she was baptized at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Her god parents were Kent and Auntie Cat.

Somewhere along the way, she developed the ability to scoot on her tummy if you support her feet. Her babblin also improved to include a lot more sounds. Grandma Carroll, Auntie Meegan, and Auntie Cat all agree that they thought they heard her say "ma". There may have been an occasion or two where "hi" was used. Although most likely these are just sounds that she hears a lot and get thrown in with the babbling. She was also caught passing her pacifier from one hand to another early one morning.
