Month Six

Well, the sixth month isn't quite over yet and already there is plenty to tell. Lydia started the month with a bang as she went full on into teething. She's been getting the occasional teething fever and can get pretty fussy. She got a new high chair this month. Mommy got sick of her bouncing while eating and shoving spoons in her eyes. We've moved on to adding some fruit into her diet. While pears and apples are just another something to eat, she absolutely adores bananas. She's also learning to use a cup. We've started eating together and I noticed her watching me very intently while I would drink from my glass. So I decided it was time to let her give it a try. She took right to it. She likes to grab the rim, so she gets a little frustrated that she can't quite tip it. If she does get it far enough up, she'll lap at the water. She's also started grabbing at my water bottles and glasses if I'm holding her and them at the same time, and she'll drink from my glass if I let her. On the mobility front, things are getting close to moving. She's interested enough in her toys now that she will reach from them when on her tummy and scoot in circles on her back and side to get to things. She got her butt up in the air the other day, but it hasn't amounted to much since. I can see the hungry look in her eyes though, and it won't be much longer before she's doing some kind of crawling. In the meantime, she loves being held up to stand. She also loves to jump, whether it be in a jumper at daycare or mommy and daddy assisted. She still loves her bouncy seat and will be content to spend a good half hour bouncing and nothing more. We call them her exercizes. She actually bounced herself to sleep in her chair last night. Beyond adorable. She can also sit up unsupported, although it usually doesn't last more than a minute. She'll usually tip over when she leans in for a toy...or her foot, which is still a constant source of amusement. She loves to suck on her toes and will suck her thumb on occasion. Babbling has taken on a new force as she finds her voice. She is a loud talker, just like her mommy. Everything Lydia does has taken on a new force. She wiggles, A LOT. I can already see that we are going to really have our hands full once she starts moving around!!!!
